Things are coming together and it looks like we are about to begin the long awaited kitchen renovation. My husband talked to the carpenter today and he says that he will be able to get to us very soon. I have been looking at things online. There's a Murray Feiss chandelier that I have my eye on to go over the table. It's going to be fun to finally see this get off the ground. I can't wait.

Were You Impressed?
The Apple iPad launched. Were you impressed? I am thinking that I'm not. I can't really see the advantage over a netbook, and I can see some advantage of the netbook over the iPad. One of main things is cost. Once you start throwing in accessories like all of the iphone accessories it is going to cost as much as a full blown computer. But then I'm not one to rush out for the latest gadget, so maybe I'm not the customer they were aiming for.

Fame Doesn't Protect You
I was saddened to read this morning that Capt. Phil of the Deadliest Catch TV show suffered a stroke. That has been one of the few reality shows that I continue to watch. He had a close call last year with a blood clot in his lung. His years of living on cigarettes and coffee are catching up with him. Fortunately the boat was in harbor when it happened instead of out at sea. My thoughts are with him and I hope he recovers quickly.

Living Dangerously
I am pushing the limit with my husband's patience lately. It started with a new puppy 2 months ago. He wasn't thrilled but she won him over. Now I am getting ready to go pick up a brother for her. Yes, I'm getting a second puppy. She needs a companion, right? I'm thinking about increasing my life insurance policy before I go pick him up. What do you think? Is he going to kill me?

Take Care of Them
I'm sure you are as crazy about your pets as I am. As far as I'm concerned, my dogs are my kids. I try to keep up with what things can harm them so I was interested when I saw an article this morning on AOL on things around the house that are poison. I was aware of most of them but I was surprised by avocado's being harmful. If you'd like to read it it is the ASPCA's Top 10 Pet Poisons.

Too Many Recalls
There are two more recalls of baby products in the news today. A Greyco stroller is being recalled because of the risk of fingers being caught in a hinge. A bed is being done because of the chance of babies being caught in the spindles.
A Bob stroller or any item designed to hold babies is something that parents depend on to keep their children safe. When shopping be careful and check the reputation of any product that you buy to use for your baby.

Dining Out
There is now a new option when it comes to eating out. No, I'm not talking about fine dining, I'm talking about eating at Walgreens. LOL Yes, it seems that they have decided to enter the fresh food fray and will be offering freshly prepared sandwiches and salads. Personally, I find it a little unsettling to think about buying lunch where we buy cold remedies, prenatal vitamins and eye drops but maybe that's just me.

Old, Me??
I never thought of myself as getting older but I think that I am ready to admit that I am. The years are starting to show on my face and I need to start doing something about it before it is entirely too late. I have been online looking at anti aging beauty products today. There are so many available it is hard to know which one to try. Which ever one I choose, it is probably better than doing nothing at all, right?

This Guy Is Amazing
I see a lot of videos, they get passed around twitter every day. Some are good and some are bad but I'm not usually motivated to share them with you. This one is different. The things that this guy does are amazing. Watch the video, it's worth it.

I'm Not Alone
I am not alone in feeling pudgy after all of the holiday feasting. I just spoke with a good friend who is feeling the same way. We have different approaches as to how we are addressing it. I am going with a healthier diet and exercise, she is trying quick trim to lose the weight. I told her to be sure and let me know how it goes, if it works for her I may need to go buy some.

His Beauty Advisor
I never knew when I got married that I was expected to be my husband's beauty adviser. I've learned a lot of things about male vanity, guess I was under the false impression that men aren't concerned about that stuff. My husband certainly is!
He is constantly asking me questions about hair care or skin care. Recently he asked me about how to get rid of blackheads. I never had them so I don't know. He was shocked at that answer. Men expect us to know everything about beauty so I guess the assumptions go both ways.

MLK JR. Day
We are observing Martin Luther King Jr. Day here in the US. I hope people take a minute to think about the man and what the day is about. It's not just about a national holiday.
I grew up in Memphis and was a witness to much of what is spoken of today. I remember the marches, the strikes and the riots. I also remember the day that he was assassinated at the Lorraine Motel in downtown Memphis.
He was a great man that was taken too young but his words live on....remember him today.

After Holiday Blues
I think I have a case of after the holiday blues. It didn't help that we had an unprecedented cold wave and I spent two weeks in the house. My mood is directly tied to the amount of sunshine that I soak up, that's one of the reasons I live in Florida.
I have decided to get myself out of this funk so I am making some changes. I am cleaning up my diet but I plan o start with some colon cleansing pills first to get things off to a good start. I've already started walking. Hopefully this program will brighten things up for me.

Bath Day for Bella
I have decided that today is bath day for Bella Boo, the puppy. I have been putting it off since her first one was a real fight but it has to be done. I have promised myself that I can go shopping after it's done as a reward. Heck, even shopping for a blackhead treatment sounds like more fun than wrestling a squirming puppy. Everybody get ready to back me up, I'm going in.

Hungry Already
I like the convenience of using a crock pot. It is so easy to throw everything into the pot in the morning and forget about it until dinner time. But the down side of using one for me is the smell. I put red beans for red beans and rice into the slow cooker this morning and the smell is awesome. That may sound like a good thing but it is making me so hungry and it's only lunch time! I have a long wait until I can dish up a bowl of them. Maybe I should go shopping.

Who's Watching?
I took a break from watching the coverage of the earthquake in Haiti to watch the opener of Project Runway last night. It was good to think about something other than tragedy for a while. I think it's going to be a fun season and I am very glad they are back in New York. I'm sure the crew didn't appreciate having to deal with cross country moving two years in a row but the whole LA thing was a disaster.

Here Comes the Sun
The bone chilling cold of the last few weeks is finally leaving Florida. This weather has reminded me of why I no longer live in Tennessee. Cold weather is not my thing. I just hope that it doesn't come back. I hate to say so but if it is going to be this cold here in the northern part of the state I might consider moving back to south Florida. Naples is starting to look better and better.

Goodbye Teddy
Teddy Pendergrass passed away from colon cancer. He was only in his 50's but had a difficult life. After reaching fame with his singing career he was in an accident that paralyzed him. That was the end of his career. For those of us of a certain age, his voice and songs were well known. Sorry to see you go, Teddy. RIP
